We never left nature.

We are nature. We are Natural Intelligence.

One person, two signatures

Two doors into the same house.

The same hands, the same land, the same intelligence — signed differently according to the work. One name tends. The other dreams.

Signature I

Eric Roux Reiffsteck — ERR

The tending signature.

Farmer, perfumer, olfactory designer, landscape architect, entrepreneur, writer. Founder of Studio Paysan Parfumeur, a perfume house at the Château de Beylongue — formerly Bétan — in les Landes. MSc in Nature Inspired Design. ERR signs the work that tends — and the ventures that sustain the tending: a hybrid economy where profit serves care.

Signature II

Ricky Roux

The dreaming signature.

Writer and filmmaker. A name contracted from Eric and Roux — the red name, the maternal line — with the patronymic quietly set down. Ricky signs the work that invents: stories, films, the imaginary. The same person, granted permission to be inconsistent, playful, dark, free.

Everything is connected. Creation is not the production of isolated objects — it is the revelation of relationships.

Entrepreneurship · the hybrid economy

Profit as compost.

Entrepreneurship is not an identity here — it is a tool. A hybrid economy where commerce funds care: the soil, research, art. Profit is decomposed, redistributed, made fertile. Nothing is isolated; everything is composted. Profit for care.

01 Create

Perfumery, olfactory design, landscape, writing, film — goods and stories that carry their own value.

02 Compost

Revenue is not a goal; it is a material. It is broken down, reinvested, put back into circulation.

03 Tend

The soil, the landscapes, the research, the artistic projects — everything that cannot be sold but keeps us alive.

04 Begin again

The loop closes: what has been tended feeds the next creation. The model is alive, not extractive.

The work

Projects & instruments.

Five lines of inquiry, one question: how do humans remember that they are nature?

01 Studio Paysan Parfumeur A perfume house grown from farming — rooted at the Château de Beylongue in les Landes, where the field and the formula are one continuous act.
02 Remembering Human An inquiry into memory and belonging — what it means to remember being human, and what is lost when we forget.
03 Nature Is My Intelligence A declaration and a research path: intelligence was never ours alone. Thinking with the living, not about it.
04 L'Olfactoscope An instrument for observing the world through smell — an olfactory observatory where landscapes are read as scents, and scents as landscapes.
05 Nouvelles Notes ‘New notes’ — in both senses of the word: the perfumer’s note and the writer’s. Compositions in scent and in language.

Vocabulary

Five working concepts.

A vocabulary for inhabiting the living world differently — developed across art, science, philosophy, and practice.

01 — Natural Intelligence

We never left nature. Intelligence is not a human monopoly but a property of the living web — and we are one of its strands.

02 — Neo-farming

Farming reconsidered as a cultural and sensory act — agriculture as dialogue with a place, not extraction from it.

03 — Regenerative design

Design that gives back more than it takes — systems, objects, and landscapes that heal rather than merely sustain.

04 — Olfactory landscapes

Smell as a way of reading territory. Every place has an odor; every odor is a memory of climate, soil, plants, and time.

05 — Human / non-human relations

The oldest relationship, newly urgent: how to live with other forms of life without reducing them to resources or symbols.

Mycelium · the structure of the link

Underneath, everything is connected.

Beneath the forest floor, mycelium threads link the roots — trees trade sugar and signal through filaments no eye can see. This life has the same architecture: not a CV, not a hierarchy, but a web. Names, places, projects and disciplines, all exchanging meaning underground. Hover the network. The drawing is hand-made; the life is machine-made — low tech and high tech, one organism.

Natural Intelligence ERR — E. Roux Reiffsteck Ricky Roux Les Landes Paris Non-human life Château de Beylongue (ex-Bétan) Studio Paysan Parfumeur L'Olfactoscope Remembering Human Nouvelles Notes

A mycelium does not grow in straight lines. It weaves, tries, connects — and sometimes, underground, two distant trees discover they had been together from the start.

About

One person, many disciplines.

Eric Roux Reiffsteck
aka ERR
aka Ricky Roux

Eric Roux Reiffsteck is a French multidisciplinary artist, farmer, perfumer, olfactory designer, landscape architect, entrepreneur, and writer, and a former filmmaker. He is pursuing an MSc in Nature Inspired Design, and works between les Landes and Paris — where Studio Paysan Parfumeur, his perfume house, is rooted at the Château de Beylongue, formerly Bétan. His economic practice follows the same conviction as his artistic one: a hybrid model where profit serves care — profit as compost.

His practice explores the intersection of nature, art, science, philosophy, and storytelling — connecting soil, scent, landscape, memory, and human experience. Under the name Ricky Roux, he writes and makes films: the same intelligence, dreaming out loud.

Central conviction: creation is not the production of isolated objects. It is the revelation of relationships.
